SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY PATROL TROOPER INJURED

COLUMBIA – South Carolina Highway Patrol L/Cpl. Donnie L. Gilbert, 33, was injured early Thursday morning following a traffic stop on Interstate-85 in Greenville County.

Gilbert, who joined the patrol in 1999, was injured after stopping a vehicle on the interstate. Gilbert stopped the vehicle after the driver made an improper lane change that forced a third vehicle to take evasive action to prevent a collision.

The trooper was treated and released from Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol has charged the driver with failure to stop for a blue light. Additional charges may be made.
