COLUMBIA – The South Carolina
Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) and MADD South Carolina recognized
several law enforcement agencies, officers and others for their efforts to
keep impaired drivers off the roadways.
About 300 law enforcement officials, elected
representatives and victims gathered in Columbia for the 2nd
annual DUI Enforcement Recognition Ceremony. Solicitor Gregory Hembree,
president of the S.C. Solicitors’ Association, delivered the keynote
address.
Awards were presented to law enforcement
officers from around the state.
Lance Cpl. Stephen D. Poole of the South
Carolina Highway Patrol’s Troop 4 was honored with the Trooper DUI HERO
Award. Troop 4, which covers Cherokee, Chester, Chesterfield, Fairfield,
Lancaster, Union and York counties, also won Highway Patrol Troop of the
Year honors.
