COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eleven people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, June 22, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 24, at midnight.
As of June 24, 2007, 498 people died on South Carolina highways, compared to 471 in 2006. Of the 373 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2007, 231 were not wearing seat belts. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
