COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, July 27, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, July 29, at midnight.
As of July 29, 2007, 615 people died on South Carolina highways, compared to 562 in 2006. Of the 462 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2007, 273 were not wearing seat belts. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
