COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of ten people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, October 5, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, October 30, at midnight.
As of October 7, 2007, 819 people died on South Carolina highways, compared to 799 in 2006. Of the 614 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2007, 366 were not wearing seat belts. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
