FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS ELEVEN KILLED

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS, JANUARY 4-6, 2008

COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eleven people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, January 4, at 6 p.m. until Monday, January 6, at midnight.

As of January 6, 2008, 12 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 18 in 2007. Of the 11 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2008, seven were not wearing seat belts. Through midnight January 6, 200, two motorcyclists and one bicyclist have died on state roads and highways. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
