FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS FIVE KILLED 

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS, FEBRUARY 8-10, 2008         

 

COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, February 8, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, February 10, at midnight.

 

As of February 10, 2008, 95 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 103 in 2007. Of the 75 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2008, 52 were not wearing seat belts. Through midnight February 10, 2008, seven motorcyclists, two bicyclists and nine pedestrians have died on state roads and highways. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
