SCDPS Memorial Service for traffic fatality victims

 

COLUMBIA– The South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) will hold its annual memorial service on Saturday, April 12 to remember the 1,075 people who died as a result of traffic collisions on state roadways last year.

 

The Memorial Service for Highway Fatality Victims will be held at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive in Columbia. About 500 people, mostly family members and law enforcement officials, are expected to attend the service that begins at 10  a.m.

The memorial service has been held annually since 1988 to remember state residents and visitors who lost their lives on South Carolina highways, to bring together families and friends of the deceased and to educate the public in an effort to prevent future loss of life on the state’s roads.
