FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS TEN KILLED 

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS, APRIL 18-20, 2008       

 

COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of 10 people being killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, April 18, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 20, at midnight.

 

As of April 20, 2008, 279 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 287 in 2007. Of the 218 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2008, 151 were not wearing seat belts. Through midnight April 20, 2008, 26 motorcyclists, two bicyclists and 28 pedestrians have died on state roads and highways. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
