(SCDPS) announces the following:
WHO:
SCDPS in conjunction with the Law Enforcement Networks (LENs)
WHAT:
Sober or Slammer (SOS) Christmas/New Year’s DUI crackdown launch events
WHEN:
1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008
WHERE:
Several locations around the state:
WHY: To
educate the public and to save lives; to inform motorists about the stepped-up
enforcement of impaired driving violations during the holiday season; to compare
the number of DUI-related deaths per year with the number of murders each year
in South Carolina; and to highlight the devastation that drunk drivers cause.
NOTE:
The 16 judicial circuits LENs in the state will
hold checkpoints and other activities during the Christmas and New Year’s
campaign holiday period, which runs from December 12-January 1. Media personnel
should contact LEN coordinators in their areas for details.
