South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) announces the following event:

WHO:             SCDPS’ Office of Highway Safety

WHAT:           Start of the “Buckle Up South Carolina. It’s the law. And it’s enforced.” safety belt enforcement campaign. Known as BUSC, the state campaign corresponds to the national “Click It or Ticket” mobilization and will run May 18 to May 31.

WHEN:           2 p.m. Friday May 15, 2009

WHERE:        50-yard line at Williams-Brice Stadium, 1127 George Rogers Blvd., Columbia

WHY:              To draw attention to the thousands of traffic deaths in South Carolina since the passage of the safety belt law in December 2005 and the life-saving potential of safety belts.

NOTE:            A visually compelling display is planned at the stadium to depict the loss of lives that could have been prevented by the use of safety belts.
