As of September 27, 658 people have died on
Of the 502 motor vehicle occupants who have died
in 2009, 295 were not wearing seat belts. There have been 26 fatal collisions
where the use of seat belts is unknown.
Through midnight September 27, 60 pedestrians, 72
motorcyclists and 10 bicyclists have died on state roads and highways. The
remaining fatalities are the result of collisions involving an assortment of
vehicles such as mopeds or tractors.
