Safety on Our Roadways
The Office of Highway Safety works with the enforcement divisions of the SC Department of Public Safety – SCHP, STP and BPS – as well as local law enforcement agencies and other groups to develop, promote and coordinate traffic safety initiatives to reduce traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities on our state’s roadways.

Each year, the Office of Highway Safety coordinates the Annual Memorial Service for Highway Fatality Victims to remember the people killed in traffic collisions in the previous year. The event is usually held at a large local church to accommodate the hundreds of family members and law enforcement personnel who attend.
