Overview and Award Schedule

The purpose of the Formula Grant Program is to assist state agencies and units of local government in carrying out specific programs which offer a high probability of improving the functioning of the criminal justice system. Special emphasis is placed on projects that advance national and state drug control priorities. There are 7 authorized program areas from the Bureau of Justice Assistance that define the nature and scope of programs and projects which may be funded. Sub-grantees must provide 10 percent program cost in the form of a cash match, with the other 90 percent of the amount covered by federal. The application due date for FY2012 funding is January 13, 2012 and the grants will be effective July 1, 2012.

For 2011 JAG sub-grantees: If in doubt which progress report applies to your grant project, look on the bottom left corner of your hard copy that was provided in your workshop notebook to obtain the progress code (example, A, A.2, B.2, etc.).

For 2010 JAG sub-grantees: 10a = grants dates 7-1-10 to 6-30-11 and 10b = 9-1-10 to 6-30-11. If in doubt which progress report applies to your grant project, look on the bottom left corner of your hard copy that was provided in your workshop notebook to obtain the progress code (example, A, A.2, B.2, etc.).
