The Juvenile Justice Formula Grant program provides grants to state agencies, local
units of government and private non-profit organizations (provided they have applied for and been
denied funding by a local unit of government). There are 35 authorized program areas, including the
federal fiscal year 2011 (FY11) priority areas of jail removal, DMC, and alternatives to detention.
Projects are funded for one year with the possibility of continuation based on year-by-year performance
for a maximum of three years. The FY2011 application due date will be March 11, 2011 at 5:00p.m.
Successful applicants will be notified of their awards in the Fall and the grant period will be from
October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012. The federal award is expected to be approximately $600,000.
