School Zone Safety

South Carolina Department
of Public Safety

School Zone Safety Week:
Along with the excitement at the start of the school year comes an increased risk of traffic-related injuries to our youth. Young pedestrians and bicycle riders are sharing roads with motorists who have grown accustomed to school zones that have been quiet during the summer. To ensure the safety of our children in and around school zones, the SC Department of Public Safety encourages schools and local law enforcement agencies to plan activities for School Zone Safety Week, which should be observed during the first full week of the school calendar.
