Activities for School Zone Safety Week

  • Conduct a news conference
  • Public Service Announcements on local radio/TV stations
  • Speed enforcement in or near school zones
  • Safety Presentations
  • Bulletin Board displays on travel safety (walking, school buses, cars, railroads)
  • Distribution of safety literature
  • Safety video presentation
  • Poster contest
  • Post message on Websites (agency-community or personal)
  • Write letters to civic officials asking them to speak out about safety
  • Make and distribute yard signs near school
  • Write 'Thank You' letters to law enforcement officers for enforcing school zone laws.
  • Write ‘Thank you’ letter to crossing guards for keeping children safe
  • Encourage everyone in your agency or school to start for work/school 20 minutes earlier this week
  • Ask local fast food places to post flyers about School Zone Safety.
  • Collect funds for a flashing speed limit sign for your school zone
