FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS FIVE KILLED ON

S.C. HIGHWAYS, SEPTEMBER 26-28, 2008

 

COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five people being killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, September 26, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, September 28, at midnight.

                                         

As of September 28, 678 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 805 highway deaths last year at this time. Of the 495 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2008, 334 were not wearing seat belts. Through midnight September 28, 90 motorcyclists, 68 pedestrians and 12 bicyclists have died in collisions on South Carolina roads and highways.
